Get ready. Children's Book Week is almost here.
This year, the party runs from November 9 to 15. Schools, libraries, and bookshops will all join in. Families can join in at home too.
An old party for new readers
This party is not new at all. It began in 1919.
That makes this year its 107th birthday. It is the oldest reading party in the country.
“It is the oldest reading party in the country.”
This year's poster
Artist Grace Lin made the poster for 2026. You can see it at the top of this page.
It shows a big stone lion. In Chinese culture, the lion is a protector. Two kids sit by its feet and read. Tall stacks of books stand on both sides.
Grace Lin said, “I feel that kids need curiosity.”
She also made books you may know: Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and A Big Mooncake for Little Star.

Free fun for your family
The group behind the week is called Every Child a Reader. They give away free things to print at home.
There are coloring pages in 15 languages. There are bookmarks and activity pages. There is even a Book Week song to sing along with.
Easy ways to join in
- Read one extra book each day that week.
- Ask your library what they have planned.
- Let your child pick the book. Yes, even the one you have read 100 times.
And if you want a book read out loud to you, you know where to find us. Pick any story on this site and press play.
